I still haven't really decided on what I exactly want to do with my MP2. I came up with a movie/tv quote database/generator. Obviously it would be incredibly difficult but to make it easier I think it could be linked with a mobile version of IMDB.com.
I know a lot of times I use quoted lines out of movies and television and there are times where people use the quotes and don't know where they came from. Then they have those "Oh my g-d where did that line come from???? I can't remember?!?!?!" moments. Then when they try to find it they skip over what could be the easiest option, which is just searching it on a website such as imdb.com, the most readily accessible visual media database. I think there could be a suitable app for imdb, if there isn't one already, but I want to focus more on the famous lines/quotes that are synonymous with certain movies and shows. I've had the moments where I can't remember a line and would kill to know where it came from. I think this kind of app can help.
The interface would be basic enough to use with an iphone/itouch or maybe a blackberry/droid/htc. I'm gonna model it in iphone/touch format. You start with a keyword search or genre search. Then it brings you to a results list. If thats not specific enough, you can refine the search. I'd like to utilize the tilt function on a 0/90/180 degree tilt so you can view results vertically or horizontally. I'd also like to do that because it would be nice to add links to video content or content that is better viewed horizontally. There are probably some add-ons that I can work with but that nav style is the basic function I want to work with. Maybe also adding in a shake option at the beginning to get a random result in search would be cool. I'll see how it goes, I'd like to just get the basics done.
WELL AS I JUST FOUND OUT, SOMETHING SIMILAR EXISTS SO I WILL MODIFY THIS A LITTLE
NEW IDEA :)
Taking the game "Bullet-Time Fighting" and modifying it.
Side-scrolling game. Characters come into play and obstacles on rooftops come into play. The user has to jump over rooftops, fight characters, jump obstacles. Also has a bonus round, not found in the previous game where you have to jump through targets going upward.
Its a 2d game that will move as the user moves closer to the edge of the frame because the user can control the character left/right/up. Uses 1 button to jump, 1 button for punch, 1 for kick, and maybe add in a special button to shoot. Frame will freeze if an enemy comes into screen but will scroll when an obstacle is in play. Levels will near double in size per. So if the first one is say, 10 buildings long, the next will be 15, then 20, then 25 etc.
Target audience is anyone who wants to play. Probably more of the 10-20 range but everyone has access to games now.
Only really 1 type of environment to go through, simple enough. Going to be a flat blue background...maybe levels will have different color backgrounds. Buildings will be 1 color with the possibility of windows turning on and off. Level ends with a checkered flag rooftop at the end.
ONE MORE IDEA
Model the NES game "Elevator"
Elevator is basically the opposite idea of "Bullet Time Fighting" where it is completely vertical. You go through levels with people popping out of doors trying to kill you and follow you. You travel through elevators going up and down. You die if you get shot, fall through the elevator hole, or get crushed between the elevator and ceiling. Level ends when you get to the bottom, without being hurt, and escape in your car. Next levels grow in height. Very simple design. Also has escalators on the sides of the floors, not always in the same places. I have seen a version of this game somewhere, I'll try to find it. It was modeled in AS2, I think, so I might stick with AS2 or maybe do AS3 if I can convert it.
